Wild Goose won his first stakes, the June 23 John D. Marsh Stakes at Colonial Downs, and became the first stakes winner for his sire, Prenup, at the same time. Wild Goose won the 8 1/2-furlong race by 6 1/2 lengths over second-place finisher Charles. The winner is trained for Donat J. Ferland by W. Paschal Bignault.

Melville Church III bred Wild Goose in Virginia, where Prenup also stands. Prenup is based at Blue Ridge Farm near Upperville, Va., not far from where he was born--Spring Hill Farm near Casanova, Va.

Edward Evans owns Spring Hill and bred Prenup from his mare Homewrecker. Prenup won the 1994 Jerome Handicap (gr. I) and the Maryland Million Sprint Handicap the same year.

Prenup, by Smarten, is a half-brother to stakes winner Cat's At Home (by Tabasco Cat). His 2002 stud fee is $3,500.
