In the only added-money race in the U.S. on Tuesday, Lady of the Future, a 7-1 shot, upset 2-5 favorite Calista to win Delaware Park's New Castle Handicap. The win was the third in stakes company for Lady of the Future. Last year she won the Waya Stakes at Pimlico and the Hay Patcher Handicap at Delaware.
Salty You led for the first mile of the nine-furlong New Castle before giving way in the final furlong. Meanwhile, Lady of the Future was on the opposite end of the pack in sixth through the first half-mile. The eventual winner went six wide on the turn and made it to the wire in time to win by three-quarters of a length. The winner paid $17 and completed the race in 1:48.92. Michael McCarthy was aboard for the win.
Thomas Greene trains Lady of the Future for Max Pearson. The winner is one of 15 stakes winners by Eastern Echo. His son, Swiss Yodeler, is currently atop the leading sires of 2-year-olds list.
