French Group I Winner Act One Retired

Act One, who was scheduled to run in the June 30 Irish Derby (Ire-I), has been retired from racing after suffering a hairline fracture of a cannon bone. A homebred for the late Gerald Leigh, Act One ran second in the June 2 Prix du Jockey-Club (Fr-I) in his last start and retires with $507,644 in earnings.

A grandson of Sadler's Wells, Act One (In the Wings--Summer Sonnet, by Baillamont) won four group events, including the 2001 Criterium International (Fr-I) and this year's Prix Lupin (Fr-I).
