Stronach Stable's Massachusetts Handicap (gr. II) winner Macho Uno breezed five furlongs Saturday at Belmont Park as he prepared for an anticipated start against Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) winner Street Cry in the July 6 Suburban Handicap (gr. II).
The 4-year-old son of Holy Bull completed his morning work in 1:00 1/5. He worked through splits of :25 1/5 and :48 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:13 under Aaron Gryder.
"Aaron's been his steady work rider," trainer Joe Orseno said. "The work went perfect. I told him to start out slow and they went their first eighth in :12 4/5. They gradually picked it up from there."
Aside from Street Cry, last year's Whitney (gr. I) and Woodward (gr. I) winner Lido Palace is expected for the 1 1/4-mile Suburban.
"It'll be a good race," Orseno said. "I know my horse is doing as good as ever. He's physically matured."
