Johannesburg, last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner and Eclipse Award recipient, heads a field of 16 to run Saturday in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Unbeaten in seven starts last year, Johannesburg is trying to atone for defeats this year in the Gladness Stakes (Ire-III) in Ireland and Kentucky Derby (gr. I) in the U.S.
Johanessburg returns to sprinting in the race, renamed from the Cork and Orrery in honor of the Queen's Golden Jubilee. The champion is trained by Aidan O'Brien.
Among Johannesburg's competitors in the six-furlong race is American sprinter Caller One, who disappointed in his first turf try in Hong Kong last month.
