Arlington Park received 6,066 applications for the initial allocation of tickets for the Oct. 26 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. All of those applications will be included in a lottery drawing for seats and applicants will be notified of their status by mid-July, an Arlington spokesman said Sunday.
A 10% sampling of the application letters showed an average of four tickets requested per envelope. If that average holds, about 24,000 seats will be accounted for in the initial allocation.
Arlington expects to have about 35,000 seats available. No general admission tickets are planned for the event.
Applications received after the deadline for the initial seat lottery will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis as long as seating remains available.
