Leading distaff runner Azeri will attempt to win her fourth grade I race of the year in the $250,000 Vanity Handicap on June 22 at Hollywood Park. Mike Smith will ride the 4-year-old daughter of Jade Hunter in the 1 1/8-mile race.
The Laura De Seroux-trained filly enters the Vanity off a 3 1/2-length victory over Affluent in the Milady Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. I) last month at Hollywood. Prior to that, she shipped to Oaklawn Park for another victory over Affluent in the Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) after winning the Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap (gr. I) at Santa Anita. Her lone career loss came in her stakes debut in the La Canada Stakes (gr. II) at the hands of recent Pimlico Breeders' Cup Distaff Handicap (gr. III) winner Summer Colony.
Azeri's recent bridesmaid Affluent is listed as possible for the Vanity, with Ask Me No Secrets, Collect Call, Starrer, and Terna likely.
