Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) winner Milwaukee Brew returns to the races Saturday to face eight horses in the $500,000 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park. The track offers three graded stakes for Saturday's card, which features a $1 million guaranteed pick six and a bobblehead doll giveaway.
The Santa Anita Handicap victory was the first for Milwaukee Brew since he won the Ohio Derby (gr. II) in July of 2000. Kent Desormeaux will ride Stronach Stable's 5-year-old son of Wild Again. The Bobby Frankel trainee will race under high weight of 122 pounds, a seven pound increase from the Big 'Cap.
Also as part of Saturday's program is the Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap (gr. IT), which features the return of San Juan Capistrano (gr. IT) winner Ringaskiddy, and the Hollywood Breeders' Cup Oaks (gr. II). The Hollywood Oaks is a leg of a national pick three wager sponsored by the NTRA. The NTRA pick three will also include the Dallas Turf Cup from Lone Star Park and the grade I Stephen Foster Handicap from Churchill Downs.
The guaranteed pick six offered by Hollywood Park will be comprised of races five through 10 and the track will also giveaway bobblehead dolls in the likeness of trainer Bob Baffert.
