Full Day of Racing Planned on Stephen Foster Saturday

Spain, the all-time leading female money earner, headlines Saturday's $300,000 Fleur De Lis Stakes (gr. II) at Churchill Downs. The Fleur De Lis, along with the Regret (gr. II), and Northern Dancer Stakes, are part of the Stephen Foster Super Saturday. Post Time Saturday is 1:10 p.m., with the first stakes race, the Northern Dancer, scheduled to go off at 4:42 p.m., with the Stephen Foster (gr. I) post time at 4:42 p.m.

Spain, the daughter of 1995 Kentucky Derby winner Thunder Gulch, has been assigned highweight of 121 pounds. Spain breezed five furlongs Saturday, and returned to the track yesterday with a brief jog.

The race is also expected to attract Dancethruthedawn (119), Forest Secrets (118), With Ability (117), Gal On The Go (113), Happily Unbridled (113), and Minister's Baby (113). Pompeii (117) and Lakenheath (113) are also listed as "possible" starters in the Fleur De Lis.

Regret Stakes
A pair of contenders for the Regret - Stylelistick and Hi Tech Honeycomb - worked at Churchill Downs on Monday.

Stylelistick - owned by a partnership that includes Team Valor, Dream With Me Stable and Gary Barber - breezed four furlongs in :49.80. The Bill Mott-trained daughter of Storm Cat won the Appalachian at Keeneland in her most recent start.

Select Stable's Hi Tech Honeycomb, runner-up in the recent Regret Prep at Churchill Downs, worked three furlongs "handily" in :34.80 for trainer Ken McPeek.

Regret Prep winner Traci's Wild breezed five furlongs in 1:00 over a fast track on Sunday at Churchill Downs' Trackside Louisville Training Center. The Langfuhr filly is owned by John Dickerson and Frank Morris, Jr. and trained by Gary Thomas.

Other possible starters in the Regret include Avec Toi, Calzada Kid, Kathy K D, Sweetmilk Creek, and Trixie Wac. The Thoroughbred Corp's Habibti, third in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), will not compete in the Regret. She shipped back to California on Sunday and trainer Bob Baffert said the winner of the Hollywood Starlet (gr. I) would "get some rest."

Northern Dancer
Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas added Michael Tabor and Mrs. John Magnier's Shah Jehan to the list of contenders for the inaugural running of the one-mile Northern Dancer Stakes.

Shah Jehan, a $4.4 million yearling purchase at the 2000 Keeneland September sale, is coming off a runner-up finish to Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Sarava in the Sir Barton Stakes at Pimlico on May 18.

"He looks a lot better since the Belmont," laughed Lukas, " and he's getting better, too."

The Northern Dancer is expected to attract a field that includes Sky Terrace, the winner of the Derby Trial (gr. III) and Northern Dancer Prep; Stephentown, runner-up in the Northern Dancer Prep; Folkestone Park; and Ide Be Spencers
